Cerro Pachon

We made the drive to Pachon today. The janitor here said he hasn't seen a woman in ages, and wanted Karen to have coffee with him. He even sang a 2 minute song. It was hilarious. Karen's scared. Anyways, tonight, we're just observing the observers so we don't actually have to work. We're going to do most of the night anyways, but it won't be stressful. That's always nice.

Cerro Tololo - the next mountain over

The control room.
The SOAR dome.

The view North from Cerro Pachon.

Note: most of the places I've stayed or been so far have had US plugs (110V). Since most equipment etc accepts US power, they just made the switch at the observatory and lodging. Weird. It feels more like I'm just staying at an embassy or something. No power adapters, everbody (except the wooing janitor) speaks English, I'm working most of the time, and I haven't even changed over my US currency yet. There wasn't time, and it seems there isn't much need yet. Very weird.
