This Sucks.....

so, a month after i went to see the general kaiser "gatekeeper" doc, i had my specialist appointment (orthopedics). i originally hurt my left wrist boxing in august. it's been 4 months since the injury.... it swelled after a boxing class and my left hand was immobile and painful for a week. it felt like it healed mostly in the last few months - my wrist has been strong in all but twisting and i have been weight lifting and can do most things that don't put a specific type of pressure on my wrist. however, when i put the slightest pressure in certain directions, it feels like a tendon slips and gets stuck out of place. playing guitar, washing my hair, doing dishes.... i have to twist my wrist hard the other way to get it unstuck. the doc said that the tendon that "clicks" came out of the groove in the bone and that the sheath is probably all torn up. the xray looked fine, so it's all soft tissue damage. they recommended casting it for 3 weeks to immobilize it as a start of the rehab procedure. i dont have my left hand again, and the full cast is somewhat limiting. i cant type normally. i havent figured out how to floss yet. we'll see how this goes, but if this and exercises dont work it means surgury..... so much for fighting this year.

sucks dude. sounds horrible. but, i have to wonder what would've happened if you had gone to the doctor 6 months ago instead of secretly hoping it would magically get better... ;) (i know, i know...kaiser sucks).

yeah, thats a regret - not going sooner. but for the record, the injury was late august, so it was really only 3 months between injury and the first doctor. i didnt think it would be this serious.....

Hope you don't have to have surgery - I'd hate to see my perfect nephew marred in any way!

Luv,
