A Santa Cruz Saturday
What an intense day. We started off by running along the waterfront down to natural bridges. It was a beautifully calm, clear day with no swell. The ocean was incredible. Inge has never seen Santa Cruz so we went for a walk downtown. Guz, with his evil genious, decided that we should go for a swim. My knees and ankles hurt.... really hurt. But there was a really cool inversion layer and some shimmering in front of the sail boats in Monteray Bay (and a brush fire on the hillside).
NIR... Jesse's wearing sunglasses.... so is Inge... but one pair is clear. Hmm....
The brush fire is in the background.
Shimmering sailboat.
We drove up to Davenport to hang out along the seacliffs there. It was a really cool afternoon.
We headed in to Yuri's Night at Nasa-Ames. What a crazy night. It was burning-man type hipsters meets geeks meets science types all hanging out on base. They opened up a couple hangars and had one full of A/V type presentations and another with the most awesome sound system I've heard in a loooong time. My shirt was coming off my chest and my lungs felt funny. Lots of glow-sticks spinning and people with fun outfits. There were lots of cool "robot" demos next to the electric cars, micro-airplanes and the F-18 jet fighter that were spewing fire. I had a few moments that brought me back to some of those dance parties.... What a trip.
