Fireworks

Today was completely hot. The water makes you feel like you're having a heart-attack when you get in, but a hot humid day will make you do it. Continental weather at it's greatest - 95 and humid by day, mid 60's at night. There was a thunderstorm that dropped hail a little bit south and west of us.... Yeah, that's right, ice on the ground in the middle of summer. Oh, and twilight lasts till after 10pm.

I'm always struck by the scale of the great lakes - they're huge, and they're fresh water. Clean fresh water. They contain 20% of the worlds fresh water supply and could cover the mainland in 9.5 feet of water. Inland seas where you could lose sight of both shores and drift for days before hitting land..... Bring your marine GPS and be ready to swim.

We saw some good fireworks from the beach - for a town of 420, the display was huge! It lasted for at least half an hour. They shot off from the nearby point in the pic below.
